A specific subtitle is centered

thanks, maybe it is really better in this thread..
i didn’t used kdenlive much since the first thread..
so i didn’t had chance to test it well and long term..
is there a tool for linux manjaro that can help burn subtitles to videos? so maybe i can edit with manjaro and just add the subtitles later..
i wish it worked better as i’m stuck for a long time…

edit..
is there a chance that my imported media that is later transcoded is causing the problem?

It really shouldn’t have anything to do with your other imported media. So you should be able to create a very minimal example project that just includes a colour clip and some subtitles which either show the problem or don’t. Then figure out what’s the difference between a project that works and one that doesn’t.

It’s either going to be some style option you toggled, or something to do with how your system lays out text in the encoding you are using.

Does it do this for all RTL languages (or any other language) or just Hebrew?

i tested it now with a minimal and new file with english letters only and it is centered too..

thanks for clarifying.. i don’t think it is the first option because i switched to manjaro with a fresh install and changed nothing but text color and outline..

anyway.. the test video was created with the default text color without an outline..

isn’t there a tool for subtitles for linux manjaro as far as you know?
tnx

Then this is definitely something you are doing or have flipped in your configuration.

Please create a project with just a colour clip, and a single subtitle, (ideally in english so the rest of us can read it), that shows this problem, and share that project and subtitle file, if you want us to try and help figure out what you’re doing to make this happen.

the weird behavior occur when there is more than one subtitle it seems…
i don’t know how to create a subtitle file.. i usually burn the subtitle to the video when rendering..
is this zip file is what you look for or should i add some thing else?
i’ve created a screen capture of the kdenlive too..

if you need a rendered file just let me know..
i can also upload the original video from which i created a project..

tnx
hopefully we solve it..
edit.. i can’t upload a link to the files.. what should we do then?

Step 1.

Step 2:

  • Create a new project. Add only a colour clip and a subtitle, no external video files.
  • We want the smallest/simplest project you can make which shows this problem.

Step 3:

  • If you can reproduce it with the current AppImage, share the .kdenlive and .ass file created when you save the project.

The rendered files and original videos are of no use to us at all for debugging this.

i can’t upload a link to the files.. what should we do then?

Upload them as attachments to your previous bug report here: 497493 – bug that causes the last subtitle to be on the center of the screen

tnx. i will do that soon.
i think it is happens when i’ve two subtitles and more. some time it happens only after it is rendered but sometimes happens while in the project when using the timeline..
so do you want me to create more than one subtitle?

i’m not sure what do you mean by color clip with not external video.. you mean just a project with subtitles, without a video at all?

so please clarify and then i will upload them to the bug reporter [.kdenlive and .ass] when using the appimage
tnx

Just the absolute least you need to do to make this problem happen.

i’m not sure what do you mean by color clip

See the link I posted earlier about that: Color Clip — Kdenlive Manual 25.04 documentation

If you use one of those for your ‘video’ track, then all we need are the two project files.
You don’t need to include other resources for us to be able to reproduce exactly what
you tested.

it is not reproducible with a new color clip while using a new file created with the appimage.
i can try to use the appimage more to see what happens..

but when i load the previous test file from repository kdenlive in the appimage the problem appears..

do you need me to upload the files to the bug reporter then? [the ones that made by using a repository kdenlive..]?

or do you prefer that i will keep trying the appimage?

when i used the appimage in the past it wasn’t ok.. but now it seems ok..

is there a simple way to import my earlier files to the appimage?
or do i need to start from scratch?

If you can’t reproduce it with a minimal project, they aren’t much use to us.
You’ll need to try and figure out what is different between the project that
works and the one that doesn’t - and then use that to create a minimal
example showing the problem.

do you prefer that i will keep trying the appimage?

Yes, keep using the appimages. We can’t help you with packages from some other source.

is there a simple way to import my earlier files to the appimage?

I’m not sure what you mean? The appimage can work with any valid project you already have?

But yes, try and keep a careful eye on what you’re changing so that if/when the problem reoccurs, you have some chance of figuring out what the trigger was. At this stage, my
suspicion is still some setting that you’re accidentally changing … but I’d rather eventually see proof one way or the other and know exactly what is happening to you.

You really are still the only one reporting this - and if you can do it with english subtitles, that suggests it’s not something related to other locales or RTL etc.

i will have to work with it a bit to see if things are really ok now..
when ive opened a file that has not been created with the appimage the problem persisted.
so give me some time to see how it is when i work with new files on the appimage for a while..
if it will be ok i will be very very happy..
