Hello everyone. Here I want to suggest adding a bit more flexibility towards notifications. I love notification system in KDE Plasma, it’s the first DE that I actually use notifications and do not just disable them.
But I would like to add a bit more flexibility to them, mainly:
Adding the screen preference on which to show these notifications. I have two monitors, main one for gaming and second one for other stuff. Since notifications come only to the active monitor (AKA the one your cursor is placed right now), most notifications only play a sound, and do not show up (and I do not want them to show up on my main screen, covering a part of my screen) at all. Maybe adding a checkbox, that allows to show messages to both screens, OR if on main screen there’s a fullscreen program/game, then show it on second screen?
I would be glad to hear any feedback on this!
Have a great day.
Hi! For what it’s worth, there’s a group of related feature requests in the KDE Bugtracking System that seem like they would, if implemented, address the points you’re looking for:
- 446961 – Add option to select screen in custom notification positioning UI
- 452294 – Option for notifications to always appear on active screen
- 461293 – Option to show notifications on all displays at once
- 471114 – Show critical notifications on all screens
This looks like something that will just require someone with the time, ability and interest to jump in and figure out how to implement
You can also add yourself to the CC list in Bugzilla to get email notifications whenever new comments are added, or the status is changed. Making sure the “Add me to CC list” option is checked, then choosing “Save Changes”, will add you:
