After 25.10 update, Konsole not searching previously installed repositories

While I was using Kubuntu 25.04 I installed quite a few applications using the apt command, which I would always update using konsole. However, after I updated to 25.10, using the sudo apt update command doesn’t seem to be fetching updates from all of the repositories that I installed on 25.04 even though I still have the applications themselves on the computer. It basically just seems like Konsole doesn’t look for updates for said applications anymore. Not sure if I should add them all again, or?

Your title is slightly confusing - Konsole doesn’t deal with repositories, it’s just a terminal.

So sure, apt is the tool, though when I messed with Kubuntu in a VM, I first installed nala (apt install nala) which is much prettier and just nice to use (better, I’d say).

Repositories are generally targeted at very specific versions of distributions, when using Linux Mint, I’d often find it better to do clean installs rather than do the big upgrades - but certainly, you will have to replace all of your 25.04 repos with 25.10 repos, right?

PPA’s are what drove me from using Mint to using Manjaro to be frank.

Make a list of the affected apps (and do try nala for the task, start yourself off with ‘apt install nala’ then ‘nala upgrade’) and then get all the relevant repos and add them again.

Something I’d mostly forgotten about, I had a pretty stable Plasma desktop for 9 years after intalling Manjaro…

The worst updates were some during the bad Plasma 5.2xx days, and then a big cleanup to remove bugs after going to Plasma 6; but that’s USER data, not system stuff… but for sure, make sure you have robust snapshot and backup strategy to wind things back if/when it gets broken.

PPAs and other external repos are disabled when upgrading – it tells you this at some point before the upgrade begins.

You need to re-enable them, but do check that each one actually provides packages for 25.10, particularly PPAs. You will get errors and might not be able to update until they are fixed or disabled/removed. You might be able to do this from Discover, but it is probably easier to use the Ubuntu/Kubuntu Software Sources tool in Discover’s settings area.

(if that is still not opening, then use sudo software-properties-qt to run it)

I did install nala, but it doesn’t show up with my other app’s in the app drawer, so I haven’t been able to use it

I am starting to get a picture here… strangely you used apt in konsole, but you didn’t notice that 'it doesn’t show up in the app drawer`.

CtrlAltT sudo nala upgrade

How does that work for you?

I get this when doing sudo nala upgrade, and yes, I know I’ve got some issues to work out in my system, which I’m working on now, but nala still doesn’t show up in the app drawer

sudo nala upgrade
