Like the title says, after updating to 26.08, when using “icon view” the spacing between icons has been greatly reduced from what it was in the previous version.
In the default “medium” spacing, this is what I get:
While switching to “large” gives me this:
I think that the padding difference between the medium and large settings is way too much, I should be able to set four columns instead of passing abruptly from three to five (and in fact, in the previus version the default spacing was showing me four columns, which visually felt like the right amount of “breathing space” between icons)
(The number of columns here is used just as an example, of course it depends on the window size)
I’m not sure if I’m the only one who is finding it difficult to navigate after this update, but I think that there could be a couple of possible solutions for this:
- restore the default “medium” spacing to the same value that it was before the 26.08 update
- allow the user to set a specific numeric value for spacing, instead of only giving a predefined and generic list of “small”, “medium”, “large”, so everyone can have their favorite behavior
