All "new windows" appear behind existing windows since 6.5

I am an EndeavourOS (Arch) user. Since updating to 6.5 last week (and 6.5.1 this week), I have noticed that new windows all open behind the existing window.

I originally noticed this with CopyQ, which has a shortcut to open its interface wherever the mouse cursor is. It didn’t appear to be working, but I noticed that my task bar actually DID have the CopyQ icon. It was appearing – just behind all my other windows.

I was able to set a Rule to have CopyQ’s “Focus-stealing prevention” be low, and this seems to have solved it.

Since then, however, I’ve noticed my browser windows (Vivaldi, Chrome, and Firefox) all experience the same issue. I can hit “Ctrl+N” in any of them and a new window WILL be created, but behind the current one. If the browser window is maximized, it appears that nothing is happening at all.

This does NOT occur in all apps. I tested in Libreoffice apps and in Kate, and they create a new window more-slowly, seemingly, and it appears on top as expected (and as it used to).

Anyone else experiencing this?

Possibly - did you test it with a new USER?

Yep, all of them have broken xdg activation support.

You can work around it by resetting the focus stealing prevention setting to its default (low)
