Discover doesn’t allow the installation of packages and libraries; it only allows the installation of applications. For example, I want to install htop via Discover, but I can’t. I want to install a specific library through it, but I can’t. For that, I need another tool (Synaptic, GNOME Packages (Debian/Ubuntu), yumex-ng, dnfdragora (Fedora), etc.). This is redundant. Could Discover, like the Mintinstall software, allow us to install all types of software, packages, and libraries? The problem is the same in GNOME Software. That’s why I’m making this request.
To manage all packages, you need a full-featured package manager GUI, or just go with terminal workflows…
Discover isn’t designed to handle thousands of library packages safely… and when you add multiple distributions and desktops into the mix it gets very messy.
and it’s really trivial to open a terminal and do ‘apt install htop’ really…
that’s why I use, in my case, yumex-ng to install some packages I need. But that’s redundant with Discover. I would have preferred that it allows installation of whole packages and software like Mintinstall or Pamac do. It don’t bother me but for new users on Linux, it can be a problem (they don’t like to use line command).
