Any ideas on how to install Mullvad-VPN on KDE Linux?

So, I’ve installed KDE Linux on a spare laptop, but one of my first setup tasks I’m running into trouble. How to install Mullvad VPN.

It’s not available as a Flatpak. Or a Snap. Or in Discovers’ repos. Or even as a binary.

It’s GPLv3, so it should be possible to get it going.

So, what would y’all suggest I try?

PS, Yes, I’m aware you can get Wireguard configuration files, but I’m trying to go GUI as I tend to swap between locations quite often.

Hi, Mullvad is in repository. Use Octopi for search package.

KDE Linux Immutable distribution will not use Octopi, which is an Arch Linux package management tool.

You don’t use Package Management tools with immutable distributions, and you don’t use Arch’s Octopi unless you use Arch.

Mullvad only give installation directions for traditional mutable systems… you need to write to system directories like /usr/ which is either write protected, or can be a single immutable file.

You must use a system tool for layered packages… basically requiring a container to be installed first.

At the moment this is something KDE Linux doesn’t have a good story for. See KDE Linux - KDE Community Wiki.

It’s on our radar screen, though. See also Settle on a specific blessed way to extend the system (#443) · Issues · KDE Linux / KDE Linux · GitLab

Just download their OpenVPN profiles and use that.

Oh sorry. This is not CachyOS forum. Pardon…
