I was using installed version 22.12.3 on Antix os(linux). Today somehow i couldn’t see the effect crop, scale and tilt
under Transform, distort and perspective
. This option is crucial for me to adjust image. From a post on this forum I got the idea to use the appimage instead of the installed one (can’t provide link as its my first post). I downloaded the appimage and it seemed better with the starup logo, but when it opened it was all in gibberish. A language I can’t understand (printscreen kdenliveGibberish). Following the options from the installed app I even tried to change the language, but nothing is changing.
Appimage seems better, but how to change the language?
That does not look like Gibberish to me, it looks like an actual language.
I would suggest some kind of locale issue, so I’d suggest you try providing some system information to try to look into that.
Some AppImages might use environment variables like LANG
or LC_ALL
to determine the locale…
You can set these variables before launching the AppImage using the command line. For example:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8 ./my.AppImage
@ben2talk my bad I forgot to mention that I had already used the LANG
option from the command line. Nothing changed.
Also, please do note, that the language can’t be changed even from the menu. I took help of the installed (english one) kdenlive to locate the language change menu. Doing a google i see that there is a language problem with kdenlive appimage.
Please suggest me what more info i can provide to get further help and resolve the problem.
If this problem seems unsolvable, plz tell me where has the crop, scale and tilt
option gone from the installed version. How can I get it back
Which version are you using for the appimage? Your first post mentioned you had installed 22.something. The latest version is 24.08.3 (with 24.12) just around the corner). Your effects list is also missing the Corners effect, so something is off …
For appimage I am using 24.08.3. I had installed kdenlive from the linux repo, that’s why the older version is there. But the crop, scale and tilt
was there till 2 days back as I had worked with it. Today I wanted to use it and its gone.
On the kdenlive website there is flatpak version apart from the appimage (for linux) and flatpak is the last resort if the native kdenlive doesn’t work. I will try that as well.
Well, something must have changed in/on your system. Any recent OS updates?
Check this section of the Kdenlive manual for the folders where effects are stored, and then try to find the .XML file for the missing effect. It may have been deleted by accident. You can bring it back from github.
Just downloaded the appimg to check and it’s in Klingon. No wait, it’s Dutch, my native. Transform stuff is there.Version 24.08.3. And I’m on a debian sysvinit, like Antix.
Can’t tell if you’re using the breeze icons, but you try going through the menu and find the blue-ish icon. That’s the one for languages. Maybe you’re lucky and the dropdown menu isn’t in “gibberish”. Looks like Hindi or Nepali to me btw.
