Application Launcher (Kickoff): Make Favorites category customizable through the KDE Menu Editor

There’s yet no way to modify the Favorites category in a similar fashion you can tweak/reorder the rest of the default app category folders. User’s pretty limited in that regard and it feels somehow…odd. To me, at least.

What if you can edit that menu to structure it to your liking: subfolders, separators… everything the KDE Menu Editor allows you to do for all the default categories that come with the OS install.

A good folder-less concept I have in my head rn is:

Grid view:


Text field / category name 1
   1. App #1 2. App #2
   3. App #3 4. App #4

Separator

Text field / category name 2
   1. App #1 2. App #2
   3. App #3 4. App #4

List view:

Text field / category name 1
   1. App #1
   2. App #2
   3. App #3, etc

Say I am no programmer, but Application Launcher/Kickoff needs some more customization love that everyone will appreciate having, I bet.

the app pinning technique is easier than using an edtior

i use the task manager to pin my most used applications

i use favorites to pin my utilities and other lesser used applications

then the rest live in the app menu

i can reorder the apps the the first two my simply dragging them, no need to enter any kind of editor.

i save the editor for organizing the app menu.
