Instead I’d like to bring the attention to three aspects that I think could use some improvement.
Firstly, it’s probably a good idea to allow the user to switch to a specific output with a key combination. Simplest thing to do is to expose some keybindings in the system settings. Audio volume is probably not the worst place to do this, but it probably should be its own category.
I’m all for cycle and switch to specific. I do this with keyboard layouts all the time.
Another improvement could be to move different ports on the same device out of a menu. I believe that this decision has reduced the usability quite a bit.
