i really which i could just make the clock only right clickable so the calender wont open when i try to click on the desktop
Ok, stupid question - can’t you see where the cursor is when you click?
Honestly, I think ALL plasmoids catch the left click. I use a conky clock for an always-on-top clock, but even that can’t be clicked through (not since moving to Wayland).
If the desktop’s too busy, just do MetaD to clear it for the click.
right but if i want to have a massive clock which i do on my desk top i also dont want the screen filling up with a massive calendar when i click on it everytime. i use it as a clock from across the room when im not using it
Try creating a new activity for that… then toggle with MetaA
Or make a conky clock big enough… you can also toggle different conkies, so have a big clock for AFK and then reset it to a normal size when back at the computer.
I’m lucky, I was rich enough 12 years ago to pay €30 for a solar watch so I always know what the time is ![]()
there are several 3rd party clock option under the Get New… button you can try.
Clear clock and Minimal clock both offer a large display without the calendar function you get from the plasma clocks.
they all respond to right click tho, so you want something that ignores the right click context menu, i’m not sure the plasma desktop is the right fit for you.
I think OP means the Left Click… if you try to click the desktop and carelessly click on a plasmoid, then something will pop up.
But really, a clock visible across the room - this means you’ll have to hide all the windows anyway, which is why I figured the Meta_A activity toggle would be a perfect solution.
im saying i dont want to be able to left click only right click on it. what about this would make me have to just throw out kde thats crazy to say
i misunderstood then, apologies.
do check out the 3rd party clocks i mentioned, i think one of those will be what you need.
Oh, ok - what you first stated was that you don’t want the calendar to open when you left click it… when you ‘try to click on the desktop’.
So what you have is a problem with how you click or select the desktop. MetaD is a big help here.
All plasma widgets are the same in one respect - you can’t click through them to the desktop - so if the calendar doesn’t appear, then your click just won’t work… that’s not really much better is it?
You can’t click through.
First solution: Don’t click close to the clock. This is now an issue because you’re also demanding that your default desktop clock is taking up nearly the whole desktop because you want to see it across the room.
Second solution: Don’t use a plasmoid, make a large and a small conky clock and a toggle for the small/large one… but the clock also won’t click through, but you won’t get the calendar.
Third solution: across the room, you can’t use anything, so you can simply Lock the screen, the lock screen shows a large clock visible 5 metres away.
NONE of these clocks brings up calendar when clicked, but you can’t click the desktop through any of them.
Simply make your choice.
