I recently bought a Bluray drive and wanted to configure an Open with VLC media player entry like there is when I insert a DVD drive.
The DVD is represented by a purple disc icon there and a lot of dvd specific options are presented.
However, when I insert a Bluray disc, the icon is a silver one with a very small document icon on grey background. Just the same as if I would insert a cd just containing data - and the menu options are also the same.
So I thought 'let’s create a play Bluray menu option in Settings. And - lo and behold - there already is a Bluray option.
Now the question becomes: Why is the Bluray not correctly detected as Bluray? Should this normally be? How can I set up plasma so that a Bluray is correctly recognized.
FYI, This computer has two optical disk drives, a Bluray and a DVD drive. Both work and do play their respective media.
