Just considering moving from Gnome to KDE Plasma on Fedora.
I used Mac for 20 yrs or so. Had my fill of Apples so moved to Linux, learning slowly! Gnome wasn’t really to my taste but didn’t know there was an alternative for a long while so I have customised it a fair bit, bottom bar instead of dock, Pano clipboard manager, many custom key combos to mimic muscle memories!
Two fairly big issues I am wondering if I can resolve:
1 - Space bar preview - In Mac and in Gnome, I can use space bar to pop open a file for a very quick look, for example to check what an image looks like before uploading or opening with double click/enter key. I have just installed KDE Plasma Fedora on an old machine to play around, and I see there’s no space bar functionality (it does something, not sure what, but not what I want). Is there any way to get space bar file previews in Plasma?
2 - Columns for browsing folders/files - I am so used to Mac Files app having columns so you can click once on a folder and it’s contents are displayed in a new column on the right, and so on. Is there any way to get this functionality/behaviour in Plasma?
Thanks
