I have been trying to get kde to automatically mount a floppy disk when I insert it, but have made several changes to the point of messing up permissions surrounding the drive. Previously I could click mount and open and it would still mount, but now I can’t even do that.
Is there a way to completely clean all related permissions or such to treat the drive as if it were a new drive?

in the system tray, there is an icon for disks & devices.
you find that it is set to automount new devices without any user inputs, but in case it’s not you can just clear the check boxes for the drive and relog.
if you’ve messed with fstab, then simply delete the line for that drive and just use the GUI feature in the system tray.
I added myself to the floppy group, changed ownership of where the file mounted, and tried multiple auto mounting software, and add a fstab option, to name some. I since did a fresh install of the OS for other reasons, but it’s still not automounting the floppy drive, is very hit or miss if a drive mounts, and I cannot modify the disk, root or otherwise, and the write protect lock is off.
