So I got a clip that Kdenlive thinks that it has a variable frame rate.
It may have I don’t know, I’m not an expert, I don’t care.
So it pops the transcode clip dialog, noted, I hit cancel…let’s move forward.
If only it was that simple!
After that every time I switch from proxy to clip I get the same dialog again.
I think one time is good enough, but that’s too much, isn’t it?
Well, Kdenlive asks the question for a reason. Videos with VFR are difficult to handle for video editors, hence the ask to transcode it to an edit-friendly format.
If you plan to use effects, and in particular keyframes, I strongly recommend to transcode your sources to avoid a/v sync issues or other problems.
But I don’t have audio and the only real problem would be if it renders something else than what I see on the monitor.
and if that and worse wasn’t a real possibility, why do you think it’s prompting you to transcode in the first place?
You’re going to have a much more pleasant experience after you learn to stop ignoring what the software needs to work correctly.
