recently, I have had a system (Kubuntu 26.04 LTS) freeze and had to do a hard reset, which has damaged my MySQL akonadi database. After several attempts to repair it, I deleted everything akonadi from ~/.config and ~/.local, then ran KMail, reconfigured my two IMAP accounts, and waited until they had finished synchronization with the IMAP server.
Now, while one of the accounts works perfectly as expected, in the other account I can neither move emails from the inbox to any of its subfolders, the menu options are greyed out and the context-menu on drag’n’drop only displays “Copy Here” and “Cancel” options. Moving emails between this account’s subfolders and deleting in these subfolders works fine, though.
I have found some recommendations on the internet, verified them and thus tried “akonadictl” with the commands “fsck” and “vacuum”. When I stop akonadi before these commands, they just print a short error message that they won’t work on a stopped akonadi instance. When I run the commands against a started akonadi, both commands show no output at all and never return, ie. they hang for at least 24 hours.
I have quadruple-checked that the trash and the other folders for the account exist and are configured correctly. I have also tried IMAP server-side subscriptions switched on and of for the aforementioned inbox folder. I have double-checked all settings in akonadiconsole Agents, Browser, and DB Browser tabs and cannot find any significant difference between the working inbox of my one imap account and the non-working inbox on the other.
