Cannot install new wallpaper in KDE 6.5.1

I just updated from F42 → F43 KDE, and then yesterday Fedora updated KDE to 6.5.1. I’m not sure if this is a Fedora thing or a KDE thing, but when I try to install a new wallpaper from within KDE (I search for the wallpaper and then click the ‘Install’ button), nothing happens. This used to work earlier but does not work anyone. Can someone please tell me if there is something I can do to fix this? Thank you.

Btw, latest KDE on Fedora 43 otherwise is amazing!

As which? If I know which I can try to install.

Regards

To be honest, I never thought to actually ‘install’ a wallpaper - I keep my images in folders, organised as I want them:

Then from my main folder, if I want to go with a Pink/Purple theme, then I created a folder ‘PP’ and dragged all the compatible images to that folder (creating links).

Adding that folder to your desktop dialog will give you a slideshow or selection of images from whatever folder is added there.

So rather than ‘install’, just download to a convenient folder.

Sorry for the delay in response. I mean using the “Install” button in the “Download New Wallpaper” section as highlighted below. This used to work earlier, but does not work anymore. Maybe I need to change some config file or something but I am not sure which. Can you please help me? Thank you.

Edit: Clicking install from here does nothing. However if I click on the wallpaper itself and then use the “Install” button on the top right, it does work. However when browsing all of the wallpapers, it the Install button does not work anymore like it did earlier.

Is the wallpaper. I can’t install Sweet clicking install, but with Install I can install the next, WhiteSur.

That is quite nice and something I will try out in future, thank you! But that is not the issue I am facing at the moment, however I have left a message above with the details. Thank you for sharing though, it is pretty cool.

Okay, that’s good to know. But I tried another one which does not work either, kind off:

I keep clicking Install form here but it does not work. However when I close this window and go to my wallpapers, I do find it:

I guess clicking Install in this case did install it, but the UI did not change to the usual Installed/Use mode. When I re-opened it, I found it:

However now clicking Uninstall does not do affect any change in this UI, but it actually does delete it in the background.

Edit: The UI seems busted even though it does the work in the background. But sometimes it also does not work in the background, and there is no way to tell using this UI mode/view. This used to work earlier for me. Am I doing something wrong here? Can you replicate it too?

Seems that UI needs refresh (only change the section in system settings and come back to the backgrounds).

Sweet is installed however don’t says anything:

For desinstall: clear with X button, apply, change section in system settings, come back to backgrounds.

And now, get news, search sweet, desinstall.

Change section, come back, and if you search in get news are desinstalled:

I agree with you. This UI issue didn’t exist a few days back but exists now; I hope it gets fixed in time since it makes it more inconvenient to install multiple wallpapers from one UI view with confidence. At least now I know its not just me, and that there is a workaround like you mentioned. Thank you for helping me out
