Cant get title clip to play in the timeline

After i insert the title clip in the timeline that i already have video and audio the clip does nothing. It just sits there

Hi @rapattack, and welcome to the forum and community.

What do you expect to see?

Your screenshot shows the title clip on V1 and other clips on V2. The ones on V2 obscure anything on V1 unless there is alpha (transparency) on any of them.

And the Clip Monitor doesn’t show anything if no clip in the bin is selected.

Hi thanks for the welcome. as far as i remember it is transparent. but now i cant find it. how do i find the thing that makes it transparent?

The title clip should be above the other content, in this case on the V2 track. Put the rest of the content from the V2 track to the V1 track.

Either the clip has an alpha channel already, or you need to tell Kdenlive which color you want to be transparent. You can do this with effects from the Alpha, Mask, and Keying category, Chroma Key is probably the most commonly used effect.

Kdenlive (as other video editor as well) “read” the timeline from top to bottom while playback.
V2 is on top of V1, that means you only see the clip on V2 (if there is no alpha = transparency) while playback.

If you like to see the title do the following:

  • create a V3 video track
  • move the title clip to V3

Oh sorry i am a bit lost. So first thing would be then second etc? i havent delved into much editing in kdenlive so this is very unfamiliar

Oh thanks that seems to be the solution but now when i want to edit it it tells me the title clip is a different frame size. then it pops up to edit with a lot of options. Well really its asking me to do it all over . so when i do it it doesnt save. it gives me two options. i cant see where the frame size is but thats because of my lack of experience. oh wait it worked. i just had to edit the text that it planted there. i was thinking i had to insert my own text boxes. cool

Oh thats weird i moved the videos parts to v1 but somehow it says v2 now. was going by what someone else said to do. the title clip is now working but on v2 . confused as i moved it to v1. anyway it is working
