Can't save from KMyMoney to Google Drive. Is the problem Linux Mint, KMyMoney, or Google?

I’m trying to use KMyMoney for simple home accounting. I have the file saved on my Google Drive (GD) so I can access it from all my machines from anywhere. However, I get an error when I try to save from KMM on Mint. I do not have the problem when I save from KMM on my Windows machines to GD. In Mint, GD shows up in My Computer/Nemo under Network.

Here is my process.

I navigate to GD, double-click the KMyMoney file, and it opens up in the program. However, I get the error below when I attempt to save back to GD.

Is the problem Mint, KMyMoney, or Google?

Which version of KMyMoney is this with? You can find it in Help/About KMyMoney.

Also which packaging method? I’m not sure how flatpak permissions interact with Google Drive. In the about dialog, Components tab, it should say if it’s a flatpak.

Also, when I start KMM it tries to open the last file used (opened from GD) but cannot access it, and I get the same message.

Also, I feel like I originally installed from software manager, but may have updated via flatpak.

There have been quite a few changes since KMyMoney 5.1.3, the current released version is 5.2.2. If you could try an up to date version that would be helpful. If Mint doesn’t package newer versions you can try the AppImage or flatpak, see Download | KMyMoney.

I kind of doubt the problem is with KMyMoney, though. It sounds like KMyMoney doesn’t have permission to write new files to Google Drive. (IIRC, when saving, KMyMoney doesn’t overwrite the existing file, it writes a new file and then renames it if the write is successful.)

You remember correctly. In this case here, the file appears as a local file to KMyMoney, as the GD space is mounted to /run/user/1000/.....
