Change speed by dragging clip

Is it possible to change the speed of a clip in the timeline while dragging the mouse? Normally this action will expand (or reduce) the clip size however is there a key combination with the mouse to allow a speed change instead?

Watch the status bar (at the bottom left below the timeline). It will give you lots of clues and reminders about things like this. If you hover over the left/right draggable edge of a clip it will remind you which modifier enables this.
