Chroma basic colour selector not working

Hello! I’m having a little trouble with Kdenlive 25.4.1. Essentially I’m trying to play with the Chroma key:basic. For some reason the colour selector is not working for me.

I can open the colour palette but the dropper tool is not functioning.

Is there any fix tot his little issue?

Can you post a screenshot or even better: a screen recording of what you are trying to do? And just one thing: The dropper tool in the effect panel only works without clicking the color button opening the palette. However, there is a second dropper tool available when clicking on + in the Select Color dialog window. Which one do you mean?

I tried it using 25.04.1 Flatpak on Pop!_OS 22.04, and it works just fine (both droppers, that is). What OS are you using?

Oh and I’m running kubuntu 25.04… I tried it on a virtual windows machine and it works.

Then I’ll guess that you probably want to use the appimage you can get from here: Downloads - Kdenlive and the problem you’ve been having is with your distro’s packages …

Hi Ron! I have been using the appimage. Version 25.04.1 to be exact.

What OS was used in the VM?

Then I think @Ron is onto something.

Kubuntu 25.04 seems very cutting edge. Perhaps an incompatibility (Qt?) is causing the dropper not working. Sorry, but I cannot help you here with further technical troubleshooting deep down in the Linux engine room.

Thanks berndmj. I’ll wait and see, it may be fixed in the next release.

Ok i worked it out. It was a wayland issue, when i logged in to an X11 session it worked just fine. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Who knows perhaps this might help another Kdenlive user out!
