Chromebook not detecting audio output

I’m new to linux and I just installed KDE on my chromebook. After getting everything running I open youtube and find out there’s no sound. The sound option on the taskbar tells me there’s no output (or input, but not important) audio devices found, which makes no sense when this is a laptop and has speakers built-in.

Speakers are not the problem if the system says you are missing audio devices. It is referring to the fact that there is no driver for your soundcard or no audio server (like pipewire) installed.

What distro are you using?

Chromebooks aren’t quite like laptops in how a few things work.

Audio is one of those areas that often needs special attention.

Have you followed the Chrultrabook docs or verified that your CB has audio support?

You will need to be using a supported distro in many cases.
