Updating my archlinux installation recently (2025.30.11) lead to kmail not being able to run because akonadi could not start. Error messages pointed to a SQL query not being valid in mariadb.
I fixed this by downgrading mariadb, stopping akonadi and removing ALL akonadi related files and directories from ~/, including ~/.local and ~/.config, but the issue remains as far as I know. I have put mariadb updates on hold for a while to feel at least somewhat safe.
I filed it as a bug for akonadi in archlinux, they asked me to file the problem upstream. But is this an issue with akonadi or mariadb?
Thanks for helping
Anders
