Configuring HTML/CSS template to format check printing on pre-printed check form.

I have created a check template for a pre-printed 3-section voucher check form (8.5x11) by Harland-Clarke from one of the templates available from KDE.
Coding a CSS margin-top property into the section of the template will not permit me to enter a negative value (i.e. margin-top: -10px) so I can raise the first line (date) above the pre-printed line on the check form. It just doesn’t work. The hard top margin setting on my printer is set to 0.19 inches. The first line (Date) prints from KMyMoney 24mm from the top of the page. I need it to print at least 22mm from the top of the page.

Running KMyMoney 5.2.2 on Linux Mint Cinnamin. Any help will be appreciated as I am wanting to migrate from Windows to Linux and I need this to work.
