Connected devices are no longer recognized correctly, automount, partition manager

Hi,
Plasma 6.5.3, cachyos.
My connected usb devices are detected incorrectly and it’s names are displayed simultaneously in connected and disconnected devices in settings - removable devices. It doesn’t always happen, but often when it does, automount is lost. It has nothing to do with the connected USB port. Even my SSD is shown under disconnected but not under connected, but SSD works and is connected.

I red about “edit mount points” in the partition manager. You can choose indentify by Device node, UUID or Label. Should I change this? If so, what further options should be set for exfat USB-Sticks and for XFS SSD?

the removable devices configuration feature is great when it works, but i’ve seen it be flaky on many occasions, esp if you don’t just check the top box under each column and only automount selected drives.

if it’s acting up will check the top box, delete all the disconnected remnants, delete my .cache folder and reboot.
