New install of Ubuntu 26.04.1 and KMyMoney 5.2.2
Whenever I’m adding new transactions, or update , the consistency check now runs automatically, after I update. Prior it could be run from the Tools menu. It still can, but what an inconvenience to have the consistency check run after each transaction edit/update.
It need to go back to a user management task, not automatic.
The version of KMM I’m using has been updated it seems, from the Kubuntu version I was using. However, something is now missing. prior I could search a payee and see the totals.
Now there are no totals ??
As long as I remember, the consistency check was run automatically on data save. I’m fairly sure it is not run any or much more frequently than that. It seems unlikely that the devs will turn that off. If it is indeed running editing a transaction, we can try to track down why, but I don’t consider that normal. (Hopefully I haven’t missed any recent change.)
What exactly do you mean by searching a payee, and please be more specific about where you seem to be missing totals. Is this when using search (Ctl-F) within the ledger, or in the Payees View?
In terms of versions, what does Help/About KMyMoney… say the version is. If it is compiled from the 5.2.2 release tarball, it will say 5.2.2. If it has been modified by Ubuntu, you have to bring that up with them. Is your 26.04.01 an upgrade from earlier version, or just a reinstall of the same version. For the latter, I would expect it to use the same KMM version as your previous 26.04.01. If it was an upgrade, your previous version of KMM was probably not 5.2.2.
I don’t remember seeing it in the previous version of KMM ? Possibly it isn’t run on an ‘auto’ save, but is run when I press ‘save’ ?
There are a few hundred errors. I see that the latest AppImage doesn’t run it though. So I will use that, until I have the time to fix that many transactions.
The side panel, press ‘Payees’ button, search for a payee. Then on the RHS a transaction list for that payee. But no totals ? They used to be there.

The 26.04.1 I have is a completely fresh install, wipe everything , install and restore data from backups.
I searched through the ‘journal’ for string ‘kmymoney’ and got over 900 entries, just for today, about 1 hour of processing. Seems excessive. Here is one
Oct 01 08:32:56 ThinkPad-T470s org.kde.kmymoney.desktop[4761]: qt.qpa.wayland: Failed to create popup. Ensure popup QWidgetWindow(0x5b9947561bb0, name=“qtooltip_labelWindow”) has a transientParent set.
That took some effort, but I confirm that 5.1.3 does show a Balance at the bottom of the ledger display tab of the Payees View. It seems to have disappeared with 5.2 or about then. I have filed bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526483.
Great, thank you @ostroffjh
