Context menu functionality for Dolphin.

Old KDE user coming back from many years i Gnome-land.

Is there a way to allow the context menu for opening Dolphin from Plasma to include a list (perhaps in a sub menu) of already open instances of Dolphin? I know one can see such a list by hovering the panel button for a while (but the ‘for a while’ is a bit annoying). This functionality is something I have gotten quite used to when under Gnome (or rather Ubuntu’s version of it).

This is perhaps a frequently asked question / requested feature? Overall I am very pleased with the setup, performance and usability. It has come a long way.

You can configure the task manager (the widget that shows you all the running windows) to immediately show a list of all open windows of the app when you click the app icon.

Thanks. I am quite new to “modern” KDE, I did not know about this configuration dialog. The “Shows small window previews” seems to be a good alternative for me.

This isn’t a very recent feature at least Plasma 6 but probably older.

And they are many other you don’t know and that’s good.
You might not need them. Only when you feel something should be different should you bother.

The useful part is to know how to find the ones that you need.
Contextual-menu (right-click) is a common pattern far plasma applets.

To me is anything newer that early KDE 4* is modern :slight_smile: I fell off KDE rather early in the 4-series. I started using KDE in late 1998 I think, and I was even taking part in the project then. I used, by then, an orphaned khexedit as fun project to teach myself Qt and more. Sadly I did not have the time for it later on.
