Could we elevate the use of Google online account permissions

this is on the work to get fixes and i remeber it has drive, gmail and youtube stuff permissions already so making that signing to use AudioTuube and PlasmaTube to allow you to login and use your Google account would be nice feature and that way no need to create again third-party signing process.

i like those apps, but the thing is i just like to have my Google account where i have everything subscriptions and palylists etc easy to manage and use

So essentially a chromebook. I, on the other hand, use google apps like drive, youtube, photos, maps…etc…and ALL are in isolated ssb’s when I want them…well…completely isolated and as far away from my local.

Yes basically, but not since we still use only sign in method and auth, but not the tracking and telemetry stuff mostly…

I think it would be good option tbh lots of users use Google and I use it even as work and personal I try to no minimize all tracking and stuff but I still use YouTube music and YouTube as personal profile and working drive and workspaces etc

Well um…Good luck with that because with Geugle changing their api’s every full moon…I gave up on Geugle accounts in linux a veeery long time ago. Webapps and ssb’s make a LOT more sense. But yeah, you can always ask for elevated permissions of course.

Drag 'n drop for me. Over the years I’ve seen this google integration fail at some point on every single DE out there. All it takes is some loony at Geugle having a bad day.

well there is i “hack” workaround already to use Gnome signing methods for Online accounts/google drive… as they use already gmail, youtube and drive as default as minimal and Gnome signings are verified…

but as the using default KDE signing it still works even the API is kept changing you just need to change it ones on one place. That would benefit on other apps that uses Google accounts signing since everything goes on single signing part.

I definitely second this request.
While I do understand that Google is not making life easier, other people (like Gnome, Rsync and non-opensource) are able to do this. For me, as someone who has multiple G-Drives for private and office use it’s nreally a pain that KDE Plasma gives me no viable way to integrate those drives into my Dolphin file manager.
And for me, that’s a functionality issue that is more important than some of the ‘look and feel’ development. First function, then beauty.

Let me add that I have opted for my personal work-around:
I used the Gnome Online Account utility, which established the connection to Google drives without any issues. And because they still didn’t show up in Dolphin, I switched to PCManFM file manager. Here everything works fine, and I can have the other internal resources (NAS and HDs) aswell.
See how long this will survive Google API changes…
