HI - first post, glad to be here.
As the post title states, I have a couple of enhancement suggestions for Elisa.
Short version:
- Network-hosted file playback in addition to local storage
- Gapless playback
Long version:
I want to start off by saying I’ve been using KDE for 3 years now on my daily driver. Prior to that, I was in GNOME and Xfce. I settled on KDE because of how dang good it was at fitting my workflow and personal UI/UX needs.
When I switched from GNOME I had to move off Rhythmbox to a new music program. (Okay TECHNICALLY, I didn’t have to, but I prefer KDE software UI/UX vs Gnome).
I tried multiple players, from Strawberry, Clementime, Amarok (rip and o7) until I realized I should try Elisa, which is included on my system vs having to build or install.
The reason I was trying out different media players was due to a core feature from Rhythmbox: the ability to build/host library from a network-file share system. On Windows, I used MediaMonkey which did an excellent job at streaming my media off my personal network store.
Elisa cannot do that as of writing, and I had to rsync over 250GB of data from my NAS to a local mount instead.
This is a fantastic music playing application. If it supported network-hosted files and gapless music playback (which I’m super surprised it lacks!) it would be even more fantastic.
I love it and would be thrilled to contribute somehow, even if it’s just posting a suggestion.
