Crop, Resize and Rrender

Hi all, a noob here. I’m migrating from Powerdirector. I’d appreciate some advice.

I am try to extract a portion of a 1920x1080 clip to create a 512x512 clip.

I have set the project to 512x512 and I have used crop and transform effects to select the required area. When I render the clip I get a 512x512 movie but with the selection offset ( there is a black strip to three sides of the movie.

The Project Monitor Preview seems to remain at a 16:9 format so I can see what I am actually rendering.

I have read a lot and watched a lot of tutorials but none seem to address this particular requirement.
Thanks,
Ian
What do I need to do please.

Problem solved. I restarted KdenLive this morning and imported the 512x512 video and was prompted to change the profile settings.

It didn’t recognise the previous profile (that was used to create the clip) and created a new one. I then found the button on the project settings button to manage the (custom) profiles. Both the initial and new profiles are listed.

In the list of profiles the initial 512x512 profile has a frame format of 16:9 which is rather odd. When selected the profile states 512x512 at 1:1. Is this a bug?

The new profile is 512x512 with a frame format of 1:1 at list and detail level.

I tried to upload screenshots but as a new user I am restriceted to one unfortunately.

It seems you can create a profile with a pixel and/or display aspect ratio that is not consistent with the Frame Size. Is this a feature or a bug?
