Is this a known bug?
Pressing Shift+Del works, which is weird.

No issue with delete in wayland, but the trash icon doesn’t show the lid off when it has content.
Is there any command that could show what is happening?
Just logged back into the wayland and now the icon is showing open. What are you seeing in the logs when hitting the delete key?
What logs? I just press the Del key on the selected file on the Desktop and nothing happens.
Open this and what happens in journald log.
Here’s what I see when using when deleting from desktop.
6/30/26 7:47 PM kioworker Creating trash for “/” failed - no permission?
FernandoMMuniz:
nothing happens.
Did you try this out on a new USER?
Also see what happens in X11 and even a live usb stick with your OS
There’s no x11 in Arch-based distros since the split of Kwins in Plasma 6.4.

That’s a known bug and different issue as the one reported here.
Need to find time to fix, need a daemon (or kded module) to notify plasmashell when files in ~/.local/share/Trash/files/ changes…
We have a similar issue when adding/removing files in ~/Desktop from dolphin IIRC.
I changed from Union back into Breeze and I’m able to DELete items on the Desktop.
But could be just a coincidence, so I’ll keep using Breeze for a bit more.
So far I didn’t get the issue while using Breeze.
Can someone use Union for some time, and at random time create and DELete a text file?
The issue stop happening both in Breeze and Union. Since it’s not happening in anyone else’s PC, I’ll take it as a good thing.
It doesn’t show anything.
And this is what appeared when I (successfully) deleted from Dolphin.
