With the new KDE 6.2.4 update. I’m experience a Desktop icon position reset, after i power off/on my Monitor with the power button, that happens under X11 + Nvidia.
I had hoped that i could maybe evade this bug with a possible work around, in powermanagement to turn the screen off after certain time. But this result to the same behavior (Desktop Icon Positions reset).
I’m experience no problems on my AMD Laptop with Wayland (which also has the same kernel and Desktop version).

Hmmm worked for them.
Didn’t worked for OP on reddit, he also mentionend “after every reboot”, but i don’t have icon reset positions after reboot.
My problem shows up, only after my Monitor is shutdown.
Hi - there’s been a lot of recent work around how desktop icons are displayed in KDE Plasma: Desktop icons are surprisingly hard!

Im actually use just a single Monitor on my PC, the Topic pointing at a Multi Monitor setup, which normally lead (understandable) to more problems.
What i dont understand, that my Laptop which also just use one Display, has no problem.
Minimum 3 month wait time, thats pretty long and my Distro will probably delay it for another 1-2 month.
I wished that KDE would focus more on a stable desktop instead putting more and more features inside their desktop, which lead to more and more problems.
Hi, I worked on fixing this bug, I did pretty much most testing with single monitor (with some multi monitor testing as well).
Sadly there’s nothing we can do about that.

Since i don’t had problem with KDE Plasma 6.1 im wondering why there can’t be a quick Hotfix for Plasma 6.2…
Anyways im glad that you responded here in this Topic and working on a fix, hopefully the rework can actually solve my issue too when Plasma 6.3 is coming out.
I had a different problem last month (i.e. Hint not being applied - always stuck with a blue icons)
However, I just applied a patch from Philm (built for Kobold) and it certainly stopped my icons’ position being reset.
The only remaining bug right now is that my CUSTOM icon is not displayed until I do a context click and exit the dialog on a folder.
