I play a lot of games at fullscreen in varying resolutions. Sometimes when I exit the game and go back to 2160p, all of my desktop icons have been moved. I like to fancy things up with how they’re arranged and having to put them back every now and then is getting on my nerves. Is there a fix for this?
Hi! It sounds like you’re running into one way that some broader ongoing issues with desktop icon positioning have shown themselves.
The blog post here by @akselmo does a really good job of describing those issues, and what it takes to fix them: Desktop icons are surprisingly hard!
And this code change to resolve many of those issues - Refactor icon positioner saving and loading (!2607) · Merge requests · Plasma / Plasma Desktop · GitLab - will be incorporated into Plasma 6.3. Folks using arranged desktop icons can anticipate a lot smoother of an experience when that new version arrives in mid-February (pending when your Linux distribution packages it for users)
