Discover and Plasma both crashing with no useful information

kcrash is installed, and always says the result is not useful.

Plasma crashes maybe 50% of the time when I log in after the display locks on a timeout.

Discover crashes when I try to do updates. This started happening more recently.

I am using Debian and the version reported is 5.27.5-2. Is it too old for anybody to care about?

Neither are more than slight annoyances. Updates eventually work. I can always select “restart” in kcrash.

If I view the cores from Crashed Process they look fine to me, so I don’t know why at the time of the crash it says it has no useful information.

In “Crashed Process” all my crashes are from plasma-discover and plasmashell.

Looking at Crashed Process, I see plasmashell called iris_dri.so + 0x9c23b and it did an abort().

Discover was in libgobject-2.0.so.0 + 0x163b0 when it did a raise().

Might there be log entries made before these occurrences somewhere?

Hi! For what it’s worth, the Debian team recommends that folks using Debian Stable following their procedures for reporting bugs: Debian -- Debian BTS - reporting bugs

Plasma 5.27.5 is out-of-support from KDE developers: Schedules/Plasma 5 - KDE Community Wiki Debian often provides versions of software that are no longer supported by the upstream projects, and as a result, their maintainers then take on the burden of ongoing support.
