I’ve been trying to upgrade to newest version but discover quits at 30%. All the apps upgrade fine. Also, what is the back end for discover? Apt? What are the shell commands for upgrading?
Ok, I found the updatectl command and ran
$ sudo updatectl update
[sudo] password for charlie:
host@202601280254
showing a progress bar stuck at 33%. I really can’t find any helpful information on how to fix.
Discover supports a variety of backends and many package managers via PackageKit.
What Linux distribution or OS are you running Discover on?
Is it KDE Linux? If so, see this

what does kinfo say?
I’m using KDE linux
Operating System: KDE Linux 2026-01-15
KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.80
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0
Qt Version: 6.10.1
Kernel Version: 6.18.5-zen1-1-zen (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
immutable distos do not allow package upgrades… you have to do some kind of container layer thing.

tried this solution with high hopes but it didn’t work.
unless you can get the upgrade you need via flatpak, you are probably going to have to wait for the other methods to get fleshed out.
The update worked!
not sure how but I ran this in console:
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists flathub h
ttps://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install --user --or-update //cdndotkdedotorg /flatpak /kate-nightl
y/org.kde.kate.flatpakref
flatpak run --user org.kde.kate//master
I think all this did was install Kate
then activated the lvfs-testing repo in discover
then added this repo through discover
KDE xdg-portal-test-kde-nightly Flatpak repostitory-cdn,kdedotorg
