OK so I’ve just installed the latest bunch of snap, etc, updates rolled out and I was kinda hoping this would be fixed but alas no it isn’t. So what’s the plan guys ? I really do prefer using Discover but alas without the snap.backend installed it’s a bit of a three legged dog having to use both Discover and AppCentre.
Thank you. This works on my PC
And you are running what, please share the details of yoursetup and backend installed apps
kubuntu 24.3 installed on Ubuntu was my setup. but It didn’t work well. The PC that had the problems with Discovery wasn’t the most powerful anyway (Celeron CPU, 16GB RAM, Intel graphics). But I’m very happy with Linux Mint now. Good bye Kubuntu
I am on Kubuntu 24.04.3 LTS. After a fresh boot I can open Discover just fiine, but if I close it and try to open it again, it doesn’t open. I discovered
that there is a stalled process that prevents opening of a new window. Basically I just run pkill plasma-discover and I can open Discover again.
Alternatively, I can run plasma-discover in a terminal and kill it using Ctrl+C, that works too, and Discover always opens.
I have a flatpak backed installed, if this important.
Just received the latest KDE updates for Ubuntu 25.10 and re-installed SNAP-BACKEND and viola no more bug. It’s fixed Discover launches without failure, well done guys. My config is as follows;-
Operating System: Ubuntu 25.10
KDE Plasma Version: 6.4.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.17.0
Qt Version: 6.9.2
Kernel Version: 6.17.0-7-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 4 × Intel® Core™ i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 9 GB of RAM (7.7 GB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: Intel® HD Graphics 520
Graphics Processor 2: llvmpipe
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Inspiron 5559
I cannot confirm that this solution is universal for everyone. I’m using the same version of Kubuntu and the same version of Plasma, but that didn’t help me.
