Discover: Problem with update notification and Suggestion with "Update All"

  • Problem: Discover won’t update my system regularly. System Settings → Software Update is set to manually and notification frequency is daily. This works normally after starting my computer, but when I use the computer some more days, there is no more notification about new software. But there is new software available. When I restart the system or re-login to KDE, I will be notified about new software. This happens so many times that I am sure that there must a problem with the notification.

  • Suggestion: Currently Discover does not update all software when clicking “Update All”. This is at least bad wording. My expectation is, that all categories will be updated. but I have to click “Update All” a second time to update software “System Software” too.

Updates are available in four categories:

Result after first “Update All”:

My system is Kubuntu 25.10 with Plasma 6.4.5, X11 and Wayland. Thanks for reading and your possible input.

sounds like a bug.

when discover is showing updates and i click on update all, it will immediately start updating user space files and sometimes after a delay it will ask me for root access so it can update the system software, but once authorization has been accepted, it just goes about updating everything else on the list.

i’m still on plasma 5 (kubuntu LTS) so i would expect the same in plasma 6.

are those two files held back by chance?

sometimes, items will remain on the list until they are released from the hold, but this is rare (maybe not so rare on the non-LTS track).

You might be hitting this bug or a variation of it

I have seen this too a while back but not lately.
Might have been fixed (I am on 6.5.5)
