Discrepancy in results of Consistency Check between KMyMoney versions

Currently using KMM 5.1.3 on Mint 22.3.

I’m prepping an old laptop to take on a vacation trip;i have installed applimage 5.2-5 2 16 linux-gcc-x86_64 also under Mint 22.3. Opening my KMM file on the old laptop yields 4,500 data issues which “could not corrected automatically and need to be solved by the user”. Many of these errors mention “ Sum of splits…. Is not zero”

Running a consistency check on the same file on the original PC returns no issues at all.

Can I continue without correcting these errors ?
If so, will this cause any problems using the data file back on the main PC?

Tony

You may continue but your data is not consistent wrt financial math. Most likely those transactions show up in red in 5.1.3 already and are missing a category assignment. The 5.2 series provides more details on those problems.

I am not sure if files written with 5.2.x can be used on 5.1.x without side effects.

Thank you for your response.

Some of the errors relate to “sum of splits … is not zero”

I hear the concern about using 5.2 database on 5.1.3; if I stay on 5.2,are these errors detrimental to using v5.2?

The transactions that are reported with "sum of splits … is not zero“ where displayed in red in 5.1.3 and showed UNASSIGNED in the category field in 5.1.3 already.

No, they are not detrimental because you lived with them before (maybe without knowing).

Phew!!

Thanks again for your speedy re-assurances!
