I think I’m misunderstanding the concept of server and host OR I’m using the wrong search terms. But, I can figure out how to display an image on my computer (MAIN) on a second computer (REMOTE).
I can use “ssh -Y” to login to REMOTE from MAIN and display images from it on MAIN. But, what I want to do is to display an image on MAIN on REMOTE.
BTW, I have complete access to both computers and neither is headless. Both are running KDE (X). It would be nice to do this without having to login to REMOTE, but it’s right next to me so I could do that.
Yes, I can do it that way. But … well, it would be a lot easier to do it from MAIN to 2.
#2 is set up behind a piano keyboard and I’m using this setup to display sheet music as I edit it on #1. So, I want to work on #1, shot the image to #2, turn my chair and play though it, rotate back to #1 … rinse and repeat
Yes.
Start KRFB on #1 and set a password (I use 1 tap of the spacebar). Then it shows the IP address and port.
Start Remmina on #2 and enter the info from #1 and Wallah!
There is another way using DWService through your web browser. Have used it for years and it is great.
Thanks for the help. I’ve decided that life is too short to be complicated So, I’m now just running a ssh session from the remote machine to the main one. With X forwarding it works fine. Actually, I think there are some advantages over my apparently ass-backwards idea to run it the other way.
I’ve ordered a little bluetooth keyboard with builtin pointer to make my life a bit simpler and keep my desk tidier. All seems to be working.
