Hi,
I’d like to test a few things in a recent Plasma6 environment under X11. A LiveCD would be fine, but the few I tried require more package updates than their disk space allows in order to install a working kwin_x11 and whatnot.

if i remember correctly, OpenMamba offers LiveCDs that include Plasma6 with X11 support
did you try tuxedo?
Thanks, I’ll have a look.
The size of these images nowadays makes just trying a bunch not so attractive… ![]()
It does, or tries to. First I discovered that there’s an undocumented password set on the liveuser account, so I had to reboot, change that password in the default Wayland session, and then I discovered that something about the X11 environment is broken enough that you’re thrown right back into SDDM …
But I’ve now seen 3 distros where KWin6 doesn’t bother to restore even the approximate positions of my browser session but just centres them on the screen. That’s a serious regression compared to KWin5 (AFAICR it works properly there also under Wayland) !!
if it’s broken then perhaps you could take an older version of the iso in which it isn’t broken?

Thank! I had to revert to the VBoxSVGA setting in my version of VirtualBox because the graphic environment (X11?) wouldn’t start with the preferred VMSVGA (because something about an unsupported hypservisor).
But I’m relieved to discover that window position restore works as it should at least, under X11 !
