Does Discover detects when a flatpak is being installed for the first time and recommends the user to reboot?

That would require reinstalling the system, which I just did… But CachyOS doesn’t have Discover and I already installed a flatpak and rebooted.

Most Flatpaks just like most apps no matter how they are installed do not require a reboot.

Likely because your distro comes with the flatpak infrastructure pre-installed.

You really only need Discover to update theme components, widgets, icons. If you’re on CachyOS my suggestion would be to install Topgrade, then when you want to do your updates run the Cachy update tool and then launch Konsole and run topgrade.

I didn’t make this thread to solve a problem for myself. Afterall I now about having to restart.

What I want to know is if Discover would help new Linux users installing a flatpak for the first time by informing them that they have to reboot and why.

Years ago I remember being confused with the flatpak being installed but not being able to find them. All that could be solved with a short message.
