Does Discover tells Atomic/Immutable system users to reboot to use the installed app?

What happens if a user install an app on Fedora Kinoite (that is not a flatpak) through Discover?
Do they get recommended a reboot, or they have to figure it out on their own?

What kind of app do you have in mind? A Snap?

I think that’s Ubuntu. It would be RPM in Fedora’s case if I recall.

You can’t install RPM packages on Kinoite through Discover. It needs rpm-ostree from the command line.

(Or you’d set up a Toolbox or Distrobox container and install the packages into that.)

You can install Snaps on Fedora, though it would be more awkward on Kinoite than non-atomic Fedora (you’d have to layer all the snap stuff first before installing apps).

Is a reboot required for snaps in Atomic/Immutable distros?
And if yes, does Discover recommend the user to reboot?

I’m not very experienced with Snaps, but as I understand it, a reboot wouldn’t be necessary, for the same reason as Flatpaks. For both Snap and Flatpak, the packaging format is designed to be self-contained, so installing an app doesn’t change anything in the base system that would require a reboot.
