Dolphin doesn't save metadata when you sort by name and a-z

Checking metadata attributes with getfattr -d -m “.*” PATH shows that when you save as sort option with name and a-z the metadata gets deleted. Putting one additional option like hidden files last or any other sorting option saves the metadata. Can anyone confirm and offer any other explanations before I submit a bug report?

Pretty sure Dolphin does not hack your files and deletes metadata.

Hi! Just to check, are you referring to the metadata used to store the view settings of a directory, as implemented in this feature? (The stuff that shows up in getfattr output as user.kde.fm.viewproperties#1?)

I can’t reproduce KDE’s stored metadata being deleted by choosing to sort by Name, A-Z - could you perhaps list out exactly what View settings you are selecting that lead to your seeing that? Could you also mention which version of Dolphin and Plasma you have installed, and which Linux distribution you’re using?

Thanks,

What is the dolphin version you are using ? You find this in Help > About Dolphin.

Could you be encountering 495878 – Customizing the default view settings doesn't work anymore ?
