Dolphin flatpak doesn't show the thumbnails of my photos from my local server

with linux 20260920 I do not see the images of my photos or the metadata located on a local server. There is a bypass for this, because dolphin is unusable without it.
on kubuntu 25.10 dolphin in deb is no probleme

I lost the link that said the problem came from flatpak

Are you sure you are using Dolphin as a Flatpak?

Dolphin on KDE Linux is installed natively, not as a Flatpak. So you would only have the Flatpak if you had chosen to install it.

Regarding thumbnails, check this option in “Interface”, and make sure it’s set appropriately for the size of your files:

Regarding metadata, this is tracked on bug 452924.

yeah flatpak dolphin is sandboxed. network mounts and remote thumbs get blocked. the deb dolphin on kubuntu is why that one works.

for the flatpak:

  • Flatseal → Dolphin → Filesystem → grant the mount path (or “All system files” while testing)
  • open the share as smb:// or sftp:// inside dolphin after network is allowed

if thumbs stay blank, paste:
flatpak info --show-permissions org.kde.dolphin
and how the server is mounted (nfs/smb/path).

I don’t know if it’s voluntary (I’ve been on kde linux since 20260812)
But I don’t know how to use a normal version of dolphin and I only have 1 flatpak version of installed and I don’t see any other normal version of dolphin

Donc j’ai fais une erreur d’avoir installé dolphin en flatpak mais je ne sais pas quand
je vais désinstaller dolphin flatpak

You can uninstall the Flatpak version of Dolphin. It isn’t ready for prime time yet. This will let the system-installed version be used instead.

Thank you Nat for your very valuable experience I have been you for a long time through KDE 3.5 and +
I uninstalled dolphin flatpak and redo my sftp link to my server and it’s OK :grinning_face:
I see my pictures and photos correctly. For metadata I do not have metadata on these photos currently I am completely reorganizing my disks so I would see later if this problem is solved too
