Dolphin Information panel media playback shortcut

Is there a way to add a shortcut to the Information panel to play the current media file that’s currently selected? For example, I’d set CTRL+Space or ALT+Space so I can quickly tap a file and press this combo to begin playing the file in focus.

This might be a development question/feature request if it’s not possible at the moment.

This could be done, but maybe there is already something that would fit your need:
Did you know you could have the video/sound playback when selecting/hovering files ? (Right click on the information panel to get the settings or in settings > Panels)

CTRL+Space/Alt+Space are reserved for another feature we are working on.

But that could be possible.

I saw that option, but would it be possible to only have it play when selected but not when hovering over?

Could be achieved.

I got it. Enabled Auto-Play media files and disabled Show item on hover. Now, only selected items will autoplay.

I wasn’t sure this was possible.
Nice to know, we allowed this.

I hadn’t noticed this was possible until your reply. I went back to disable hover and it ended up solving both of my problems lol. It’s amazing, now I can sort my libraries using only Dolphin!

Maybe an alternative way: https://discuss.kde.org/t/quick-music-video-preview/779

I actually saw your post yesterday. It came up when searching for a solution, it’s pretty neat!
