I’d really like to donate to the KDE project as I like to support OSS I use, but don’t want to use Paypal. Are there any other ways to send you money from Australia/NZ/Oceania? I’ve read the donations page which mentions account transfers/cheque in NA/EU, but obviously that doesn’t apply here. NZ hasn’t had cheques for a while now.

Try the donation box visible in Support Good People - KDE Community. That one has a one-time donation option (as well as recurring of course) that lets you bypass Paypal.

Yes, there are various services available which can be used to reduce the expenses incurred by the bank fees related to international monetary transfers but, they’re only really interesting for people who frequently transfer money between countries – if I recall correctly, the fees incurred for a transfer made from a NZ bank a couple of months ago to my personal account here in Germany was only a couple of $NZ.
