Double clicking *.exe files doesn't launch the chosen file-associated app

i am having an issue since the new plasma 6.6.3 update (i think), with dolphin.

before, i was able to run any exe file with double click.

i already setup “faugus luncher” to run every .exe file on double click before 6.6.3 and it was flawless.

in the settings menu → default applications → file associations → x-dosexec [application prefrence: faugus launcher #1 …] and every other .exe type setup like that too.

dolphin ignores my prefrence of chosen way to open the exe files, and i get the red message: “For security reasons, launching executables is not allowed in this context.”

i tried setting the “Allow executing file as a program” on and off, nothing changed.

in dolphin configuration, under “confirmations”, under “when opening an executable file” i set it to “open in application”, still nothing changed.

i can right click on the exe and select the first option which is faugus, and it lunches normally.

all of this was not happening before i updated to 6.6.3 and rebooted. (i was on 6.6.2).

tldr: i can’t open exe files with double click like i used to, even though faugus luncher is showing on the right click menu as top option
