Duplicate System Tray Icons For Some Flatpak Apps

Hey folks, got a weird one that’s been bugging me since the last major KDE update. Some of my apps that run in system tray are duplicating icons. They are both apps that can have different system tray icon states. The “stale” version of the icon only has the generic KDE "Quit " option when right clicking on them. Both are installed as Flatpaks and both are auto-starting at login. I have also tried killing them individually and starting them again and the duplicate icons persist. Was something changed recently that would cause this?

Sound similar to this bug but that should be fixed in the version you have

Yep, sounds exactly like that bug down to the “Quit [Appname]” for the “stale” icon. Reading the bug, it sounds like it might have something to do with sessions and I do restore session on login. However, it still happens when manually closing and opening these Flatpaks too.

You could try the “Backgrond=None” workaround described in comment 1

The bugfix might have only covered some setups, i.e. it mentions X11 but you are on Wayland.

However the description links to another bug report that is apparently still open/active and might be closer to your case.
