Edge barrier (and other) settings not saving

Don’t know when exactly this started, but I noticed today that any change I make to the “edge barrier” setting isn’t saved.

I set it to 0, click apply, the value field changes to “none”, but when I switch to any other setting view and then back to screen edges the value has reverted back to the default (100px).

Clicked around the settings panels a bit and the noticed that it doesn’t just affect the edge barrier setting. Anything I try to change on the “screen edge” and “nightlight” panels (my system is in German, so they might be called differently in English) isn’t saved. But interestingly enough, only those 2 panels seem to be affected, the main screen settings panel and any other settings panel I tried save the changes properly.

Since I currently don’t have any other device at hand to cross-check I’m not sure if it’s really an issue with plasma or “just” that my system is borked.

hi, welcome.

there have been a rash of “settings not saving” issues with plasma 7 that are slowly being worked thru.

you can create a bug report at bug.kde.org to see if anyone has noticed this particular one yet.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I already considered posting a bug report before posting here but chose to try it here first to see if it’s just me (which might point towards a borked system) or if others are also affected.

the main issues i’ve seen discussed were that settings were either not being saved properly to the relevant config file or they would save but revert back to some nonsense value after reboot so the next time the application was used it resorted back to the defaults.

you can check to see if your setting is getting saved and then reboot to see if the config file retains the setting or reverts to something else.

be sure to include this info in your report if you choose to file one.

Upgrade to Frameworks 6.8; that should fix it.
