How do I (forcefully) eject the dvd?

if the eject media button is giving you an kioworker error then you can kill the task in the system monitor and try again.

or you can go settings > session… change to the “start from an empty session” and reboot.

also there is always that little hole on the optical disk device you can jamb a paperclip into.
